HARMONY IS AN ISLAND CALLED HUMA
Posted

Somewhere in the turquoise waters of the Philippines is a place of breathtaking vistas and vibrant, colorful flora and fauna. Here, clusters of emerald islands straddle the horizon, seeming to float on sparkling, crystal water. At dusk, the skies blaze a fiery orange, or glow with soft pinks and yellows. Miles away from the bustle and drudgery of the city, it’s the perfect place in which to lose – or perhaps find – one’s self.

Huma Island Resort & Spa is a spectacular hideaway nestled in Busuanga, Palawan – a remote tropical paradise renowned for its wildlife, natural splendor, and some of the best dive spots in the world.

For the adventurous, there is no shortage of thrills, as Huma is the perfect staging point for a myriad of personal escapades like jet skiing, diving, snorkeling, hobby cat sailing, and island excursions. It is, also, a tranquil refuge for those seeking to relax and rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit.

WELCOME TO “SPARADISE”

On Huma Island, one discovers a soul-soothing experience like nowhere else. The resort is host to a unique over-water spa complex of connected villas, each built with floors of glass, allowing guests to view the colorful marine life underfoot. A picturesque yoga pavilion sits at the end of a causeway, surrounded by water and bathe in golden light at sunset.

Experts trained in the ancient healing ways offer luxurious massages in a lavish range of herbal oils. From the traditional Filipino hilot, to Ayurvedic therapy, to unique Scuba Muscle Soothers designed specially for divers, the range of treatments offered at Huma has been carefully selected so guests may experience the rejuvenating powers of the old world and the new, of both the international and the indigenous healing arts.

Huma’s world-class spa complex takes its name from the native Busuanga term Kapuruan, which translates to “secluded place”. The word also means “group of Islands”, and so 5 treatment villas are named after the islands that surround Huma. For utmost comfort and privacy, all these treatment villas feature Jacuzzis, as well as individual changing rooms and shower rooms.

The staff and therapists at Kapuruan recognize that spa treatments are very personal experiences, and thus do their best to anticipate and respond to each guest’s individual needs. Whether it’s a preference in massage pressure, sound and lighting levels, or a simple request for extra towels, Huma’s expert therapists will gladly accommodate you and customize each session to your liking.

A PHILIPPINE FIRST
Huma also introduces guests to one of the world’s most exotic, indulgent bathing traditions.

The Hammam at Huma is the country’s first and only authentic Arabic ritual steam bath. The first Hammams originated in Arabia; they gained popularity in Turkey, and remain a venerated Moroccan institution. In the Hammam, your body is cleansed from head to toe. The ritual is simple, but involves several steps. It takes place in a humid steam chamber where an attendant will douse you with water before applying fine organic and fertile mud to your skin and exfoliating it with a Kessa glove to ensure deep cleansing. The mud has antibacterial and antiseptic properties beneficial for the new supple skin cells revealed by the vigorous scrubbing.

Discover the magic of Kapuruan, the Hammam and find harmony on this wondrous slice of paradise. Be among the first to experience the exotic, idyllic escape that is Huma. Just an hour away from Manila by air, Busuanga is accessible daily via Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and Skyjet flights from Manila and Cebu. For more select, exclusive transfer, guests may opt to take the private seaplane service that lands directly in front of the resort.
