Thanks to its ideal location, Huma Island is poised to be among the best diving destinations in the Philippines. That is why the resort’s top-notch facilities for sport and leisure include a Dive Center that offers PADI-Certified courses and dive tours under the guidance of Huma Island’s expert in-house instructors.
Guests can rent fins, snorkel masks, fishing rods, wet suits, buoyancy apparatus, and diving gear as well as avail of diving packages that include air tanks and weights, bangka boat transfers, and a personal guide to the area.
From the beach resort, you can venture out to the picturesque sites all over Palawan. Beginners need not go far though, as Huma Island is encircled by its own shallow reef that harbors nudibranchs, lionfish, crocodile fish, and other colorful species.
More experienced divers may opt to strike out farther for the coral gardens of Calumbuyan Island some 20 minutes away, or take on Coron Island’s challenging Cathedral dive – a plunge into a tunnel 6 meters below the ocean surface that leads to a cave hollowed out of the island’s rock wall. They can also revisit history by touring sunken wrecks such as the Irako and Okikawa Maru, now covered in vivid corals and inhabited by various species of snapper, bat fish, groupers and other marine life.
